ONGC plans to produce 55 mmscmd of gas per day by 2016

Betting high on the reserves in Krishna-Godavri basin, Daman and the Mahanadi basin, the state run Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has planned to produce 55 mmscmd of gas per day by 2016."Our acreages in the KG basin are our first priority, then comes our nomination blocks in Daman and then the Mahanadi basin. If all goes according to plan, we will be able to produce 55 mmscmd of gas from all these blocks by 2016," said an executive. Talking about the reserves in KG Basin, the executive informed, “The GS-15 field in the KG Basin is producing 0.19 mmscmd of gas and 9,400 barrels of crude oil per day. We were slated to start production from the GI block by July 2012, but that could be delayed to December 2012 as monsoon and some operational issues have held up work.”Meanwhile, regarding the assets in Daman coast, the state run oil company said it expects to produce 8 mmscmd of gas from these blocks by 2016.
