In order to strengthen core processes and modernize, HPCL has developed ambitious plans for expansion and diversification in the areas of increasing energy demand, technological upgradation and environment management. A brief on some major projects in progress in different parts of India are given below:
Visakh Refinery Modernization Project (VRMP)

HPCL Visakh Refinery is proposed for modernization and expansion from the existing 8.33 MMTPA to 15 MMTPA under Visakh Refinery Modernization Project (VRMP) along with fuel quality upgradation to BS-V. With objective to minimize the bottoms and improve the margins, the proposed configuration considers state-of-the-art bottom up-gradation unit. The Environmental Clearance for the project has been accorded by Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEFCC) vide F.No. J-11011/63//2013/IA-IA II (I) dated February 11, 2016
Rewari Kanpur Product Pipe Line (RKPL)
Objective of the project is to meet transportation of POL demand through Pipeline which is environment friendly and saving in logistic supply. Total cost of the Project is Rs. 1446.34 Cr. and the project is expected to be completed by November 2015.
The Environmental Clearance (770 KB) from The Ministry of Environment and Forests (MOEF) has been obtained.

Uran-Chakan / Shikrapur LPG Pipeline Project
Objective of the project is to reduce the Bulk LPG Tanker Movement along with roads between Mumbai and Pune. To improve Safety / Environment along with the Ghat Section between Mumbai and Pune. Total cost of the Project is Rs. 462.79 Cr. A project is being shared on 50:50 basis with M/s BPCL and the project is expected to be completed by October 2015.
Mangalore –Hassan-Mysore LPG Pipeline
Objective of the project is to reduce the Bulk LPG Tanker Movement along with roads between Mangalore-Bangalore & Mysore. To improve Safety / Environment friendly mode of transportation and aslo substantial saving in logistics of supply would be generated. Total cost of the Project is Rs. 838.08 Cr. And the project is expected to be completed by November 2016.
Diesel Hydro Treating (DHT) at Mumbai & Visakhapatnam Refineries
HPCL has set up Diesel Hydrotreater Units of 2.2 MMTPA each with associated facilities at Mumbai Refinery (MR) and Visakhapatnam Refinery (VR) to meet Euro-IV specifications for diesel as per the latest Auto Fuel Policy.
The Environmental Clearance for the DHT projects for Mumbai Refinery (346 KB) & Visakh Refinery (357 KB) have been obtained.
The Environmental Statement (124 KB) of Visakh Refinery for the FY 2014-15 has been submitted to Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (APPCB). View the Compliance Status of Environmental Clearance (104 KB) Stipulations for DHT VR Project.
The Revised cost of the project is estimated at INR 2174 Crores for Mumbai Refinery and INR 2730 Crores for Visakhapatnam Refinery. The project at Mumbai has been completed in Oct 2013. Pre-commissioning works of SRU are in progress in Visakh Refinery. The DHT Unit has been commissioned during December 2014 using the existing SRU facilities.
