In alignment with Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s visionary goal of making Bharat Viksit by 2047, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) successfully concluded its “HP Power Lab – Ideas for a Viksit Bharat” campaign. The initiative aimed to foster innovation, leadership, and groundbreaking ideas among India’s youth, empowering them to contribute to the nation’s growth on a global stage.

Following a rigorous 5-month evaluation process across three rounds, 48 teams (151 students) advanced to the Pune Grand Finale, where they pitched their transformative ideas to an esteemed jury of HPCL senior dignitaries. Ultimately, 15 standout teams presented their visionary projects to the Grand Jury.

All-India Winner – NIT Durgapur for "PowerPods: Expanding Affordable Fuel Access with Solar Solutions"
Second Prize – IIT Madras for "Next-Gen Solutions for Energy Efficiency in HPCL’s Refining, Processing, and Distribution Systems"
Third Prize – Daulat Ram College, Delhi University for "Energy Equity and Inclusion"
The Grand Finale was graced by Shri S. Bharathan, Director (Refineries), HPCL; Shri K. S. Shetty, Director (HR), HPCL, along with other distinguished industry leaders, who encouraged the students and lauded their innovative spirit and problem-solving capabilities.
Speaking at the event, Shri S. Bharathan, Director (Refineries), HPCL, stated: "HP Power Lab is more than just a competition—it is a platform that connects the energy industry with the brightest young minds, inspiring them to develop ideas that will define India’s energy future."
The campaign was widely appreciated across the industry fraternity, positioning HPCL as the first PSU to launch such a large-scale innovation-driven initiative for students. By fostering collaboration between academia and industry, HPCL is actively contributing towards achieving India’s Viksit Bharat vision, while nurturing the country’s future leaders and changemakers.
